What is one word that describes you?

Describing myself in one word? Wow, that’s a challenge! But if I had to choose, I would say that I am organised. It’s partly in my nature, but it’s also a necessity as a person with a disability. Planning ahead and ensuring that all equipment is ready for use is crucial. Additionally, when relying on someone else for assistance, it’s essential to communicate clearly about when and where they will be needed, what tasks they will be helping with, and for how long.

Despite my best efforts, sometimes things don’t go according to plan. If the person assisting me lets me down, all my organisation goes out the window. It can be frustrating, but I know that it’s worth it when things do go smoothly.

Being organised is not just a personal trait, but a skill that has helped me navigate life with a disability. It has allowed me to be more independent and efficient in my daily tasks. I believe that being organised is a valuable asset for anyone, regardless of ability.
