What book could you read over and over again?

What book could you read over and over again?

This is such a difficult question, because I can’t just pick out one single book. I will happily read books again after a gap. Probably the ones I’ve read the most are the books which I own from the ‘The Chalet School’ series of books written by Elinor M. Brent-Dyer . Sadly I don’t have the complete set – some of the rare ones now cost in the £100’s so I won’t be purchasing them at that price.

I enjoyed these books as a child, and occasionally still go back and read them again. I love escaping into that world for a short while, and enjoying their adventures.

In 1925, Madge Bettany found herself in a difficult situation when her brother had to return to his job in India. She needed to create some much-needed income while also caring for her delicate younger sister, Joey. After considering her options, Madge came to the realisation that starting a boarding school would be the most convenient way to achieve her goals.

However, finding a suitable place in England proved to be too costly for her plans. Undeterred, Madge decided to look further afield, and eventually settled on a large chalet in the Austrian Tyrol. The location provided a helpful climate for Joey’s recuperation and was the perfect setting for the school.

Thus, The Chalet School was founded. Little did she know of the excitements and adventures that lay ahead!!

Zoki’s Wand.

Advertisements

Once upon a time, in a land far, far away, there was a young wizard named Zoki. Zoki was a gifted wizard, but he had one problem – his wand didn’t work. No matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t get it to cast a spell. He had tried everything, from waving it in different directions to reciting spells in different languages, but nothing seemed to work.

Zoki was devastated. He had always dreamed of becoming a great wizard, but without a working wand, he felt like he was nothing. He spent hours in his room, trying to figure out what was wrong with his wand. He even went to see the most famous wandmaker in the land, but even he couldn’t fix it.

One day, while Zoki was walking in the forest, he stumbled upon a wise old owl. The owl looked at him and said, “Zoki, why are you so sad?”

Zoki told the owl about his wand and how it didn’t work. The owl listened patiently and then said, “Zoki, the power of magic doesn’t come from the wand. It comes from within you. You don’t need a wand to be a great wizard.”

Zoki was sceptical, but the owl was wise, so he decided to give it a try. He closed his eyes and focused all his energy on casting a spell. To his surprise, he felt a surge of power within him. He opened his eyes and saw that the trees around him were glowing with a magical aura.

Zoki realized that the owl was right. He didn’t need a wand to be a great wizard. He had the power within him all along. From that day on, Zoki became one of the most powerful wizards in the land, and he never needed a wand again.

The moral of the story is that sometimes, we rely too much on external things to give us power. But the truth is, the power lies within us. We just need to believe in ourselves and tap into that power.

Twinkle and wink.

Photo by Skylar Kang on Pexels.com

Once upon a time, there was a star that loved to wink. Every night, it would twinkle and shine, but it was the winking that made it stand out from all the other stars in the sky. The other stars would often tease it, saying that it was too flashy and attention-seeking. But the star didn’t care. It loved to wink, and it wasn’t going to stop just because others didn’t like it.

One day, the star met a comet who was passing by. The comet was amazed by the star’s winking and asked why it did it. The star replied, “I wink because it makes me happy. It’s my way of expressing myself.” The comet was impressed and said, “I wish I could express myself like that.”

The star and the comet became fast friends and would often travel together through the galaxy. The star would wink and the comet would leave a trail of glittering dust behind it. They were quite the pair, and many other stars and planets would stop to watch them as they passed by.

One night, as they were traveling through a particularly dark and lonely part of the galaxy, the star noticed that the comet was feeling sad. “What’s wrong?” asked the star. The comet replied, “I feel like I don’t belong anywhere. I’m just a lonely traveller, and no one really notices me.”

The star thought for a moment and then said, “You know what? You may be a lonely traveller, but you’re also unique and special. Just like my winking, your glittering trail is your way of expressing yourself. Embrace it and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.”

The comet smiled and thanked the star for its wise words. From that day on, the comet travelled with a newfound confidence, leaving a trail of glittering dust behind it wherever it went. And the star continued to wink, happy in the knowledge that it had helped a friend find its own way to shine.

Spring Sale.

Once upon a time, in a small town nestled in the rolling hills of the countryside, the arrival of spring was always a cause for celebration. The snow melted away, the flowers bloomed, and the air was filled with the sweet scent of new beginnings. And what better way to celebrate than with a spring sale?

The local shopkeepers would dust off their shelves and fill them with all sorts of treasures, from handmade crafts to freshly baked goods. The streets would be alive with the sound of laughter and chatter as people wandered from store to store, searching for the perfect bargain.

But the real magic of the spring sale was in the air. It was a time when anything was possible, when dreams could come true and new beginnings were just around the corner. And as the sun set on the first day of the sale, the town was filled with a sense of hope and possibility that would carry them through the rest of the season.

Hide & Seek.

Once upon a time, there was a young boy named Tim who loved to play hide and seek. He was so good at it that sometimes he would hide for hours and no one could find him. One day, Tim’s family was moving to a new home and they were in a hurry to leave. They called out to Tim, “Tim, where are you? Stop hiding, we have to go now. New home!”

But there was no answer. Tim’s family searched high and low, but they couldn’t find him anywhere. They looked under the bed, in the closet, and even in the backyard, but Tim was nowhere to be found. They started to worry that they would have to leave without him.

Just as they were about to give up, they heard a faint giggle coming from behind the curtains. They pulled back the fabric to reveal Tim, curled up in a ball, trying to stifle his laughter. “Gotcha!” he exclaimed, grinning from ear to ear.

His family breathed a sigh of relief and scolded him for hiding when they were in such a hurry. But Tim just shrugged and said, “I couldn’t resist one last game of hide and seek in our old home.”

They all laughed and hugged each other, happy to be together and ready for their new adventure in their new home. Tim promised to be more responsible and not hide when they needed to leave in a hurry.

As they drove away, Tim looked out the window and waved goodbye to his old home. He was excited to explore his new surroundings and make new memories with his family. And who knows, maybe he would even find some new hiding spots to challenge his family to a game of hide and seek in their new home.

World Theatre Day.

As an avid theatre-goer, I firmly believe that the magic of the stage is something that everyone should have the opportunity to experience and enjoy. There’s nothing quite like the thrill of watching a live performance unfold before your eyes, and I feel incredibly fortunate to have seen a variety of shows at various theatres throughout England.

From the toe-tapping tunes of Mamma Mia to the dramatic storytelling of Evita, and the whimsical adventures of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and the Pirates of Penzance, I’ve been captivated by the range of performances on offer.

Of course, as someone with specific access requirements, I do need to ensure that the theatre I’m attending is wheelchair accessible and has an accessible loo. Additionally, as a shorter individual, I also need to have a clear viewing point – even with my chair’s seat raised slightly higher than the average theatre seating.

It’s important to note that everyone’s access requirements may differ. Some may require a hearing loop, signed performances, or audio descriptions. Regardless of these needs, I firmly believe that the theatre should be a welcoming and inclusive space for all.

The Wizard & His Eggs.

An ancient wizard, who had mysteriously lost all of his magical abilities, embarked on a journey to explore the world by boat. Unfortunately, his boat eventually crashed onto the edge of an island, leaving him stranded with nothing but a useless wand and a trunk of chocolate eggs.

I wonder if they were like any of these https://amzn.to/3z22yoo

Despite his unfortunate circumstances, the wizard remained determined to make the most of his situation. He began to explore the island, using his knowledge of nature and survival skills to make a life for himself. He discovered new plants and animals, and even found a way to use his wand to create fire.

As time passed, the wizard became known to the island’s inhabitants as a wise and respected figure. He shared his knowledge and skills with them, and they in turn taught him about their culture and way of life.

Eventually, the wizard’s magical abilities began to return, and he was able to use them to help the island’s inhabitants in ways they never thought possible. He became a hero to them, and they honoured him with a grand celebration.

The wizard realized that his journey had led him to a new home, and he decided to stay on the island and continue to explore its wonders. He knew that he had found something truly magical – a place where he could use his abilities to make a difference in the lives of others.

A flowery tale.

Advertisements

Once upon a time, in a far-off land, there was a giant talking pansy. Yes, you heard that right, a pansy that was as big as a house and could speak like a human. The pansy lived in a beautiful garden, surrounded by other flowers and plants, but it was the most unique and special of them all.

People from all over the kingdom came to see the giant talking pansy, and they were amazed by its wit and intelligence. The pansy loved to tell stories and jokes, and it could make anyone laugh with its clever remarks. It was the life of the garden, and everyone loved it.

One day, a wicked witch came to the garden and cast a spell on the giant talking pansy. The spell made the pansy lose its voice, and it could no longer speak. The other flowers and plants were devastated, and they tried everything they could to break the spell, but nothing worked.

Days turned into weeks, and weeks turned into months, and the giant talking pansy remained silent. But one day, a little girl came to the garden and saw the pansy. She felt sorry for it and decided to talk to it. To her surprise, the pansy responded, and they had a long conversation.

The little girl realized that the pansy could still communicate, but in a different way. She told everyone in the kingdom, and soon, people came from far and wide to talk to the giant talking pansy. The pansy was happy once again, and it continued to tell stories and jokes, bringing joy to everyone who visited the garden.

And so, the giant talking pansy became even more famous than before, not just for its wit and intelligence, but also for its resilience and ability to overcome adversity. It was a true inspiration to all who knew it, and it remained a beloved figure in the garden for many years to come.

I can’t promise one of these will be able to talk, but they’d still look lovely in a garden. Simply Garden Pansy Swiss Giant Mixed Seeds Grow Your Own Plants https://amzn.to/3FyeotN
